Our decision to have a wedding-themed Prom in 2024 was to honor Alisa Gaylon (1972-2024), one of our founding members, who passed away earlier this year from cancer. A fond memory of hers was when her Shiba Zenji (the Noodle) married a Shiba named Jewel Inu (former Shiba Prom Queen) during an in-person fundraising event for rescue Shibas in need.
Former Shiba Prom King & Queen, Ron Dawg & Suki, recreated that special day by having their own fundraising wedding event, "The Royal Shiba Wedding." The happy couple tied the knot on 3/23/24 in Madison, WI at The Boneyard Dog Park & Beer Garden. Our Shiba Prom President officiated the ceremony, & the day was filled with love, Shiba smiles, yummy pupcakes, bone broth shots & bubbles.
The event raised almost $400 for Shiba Prom which will help rescue Shiba Inu dogs (& mixes) receive essential care & treatment. Highlights of the ceremony were televised on the local Madison news (which you can watch HERE)! The ceremony was also featured in the April 15th edition of People magazine in their "Smile!" section (which you can read HERE)!
