Success!
Now in it's third year, Shiba Prom was held on Saturday, June 28, 2014. The 8 hour online event featured a chat room, DJs, contests, voting for a Prom King and Queen, and surprises all during the day. This year Shiba Prom hit unprecedented new growth with over $42,000 raised in net proceeds! The Shiba and animal rescues who benefit from the Prom each sponsored a gift basket and all groups shared equally in the general funds raised from donations and registration for Prom. The rescues participating this year were: Animal Guardian Network (www.animalguardiannetwork.org) Colorado Shiba Inu Rescue (www.coloradoshibainurescue.org) DC Shiba Inu Rescue (www.dcsir.org) Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibarescue.org) NW Shibas4Life Rescue (www.shibas4life.us) NYC Shiba Rescue (www.nycshibarescue.org) Safe Harbor Animal Rescue (www.safeharboranimalrescue.org) Saving Shibas (www.savingshibasinc.org) Shiba Inu Rescue Association (www.savingshibas.com) Shiba Inu Rescue of Florida (www.shibainurescueflorida.org) Shiba Inu Rescue of Texas (www.sirtx.org) Shiba Rescue of New Jersey (www.shibarescuenj.org) SoCal Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibainurescue.org) TriState Shiba Inu Rescue (www.tristateshiba.org) Shiba Prom had just over 285 registered attendees this year who represented a wide range of friends including canines, felines and humans alike. Started by lovers of the Shiba breed, this year Prom focused on an inclusive nature - with great results! What happens at Prom should stay at Prom, but we do have to say the DJ stylings of David Bowie the dog, DJ “Z-Pack” Zeus Ruper and the Evil Firefox Flygirls were the highlight of the party, along with the occasional surprises they threw out for the party goers. Prom can't happen without the heart of so many volunteers. Our Board of Directors and Shiba Prom committee want to thank all the amazing people who donated prizes. A full list can be found here: Thank you to our sponsors. And, to all those who purchased tickets, registered for Prom, who attended the "pawty" and contributed to the mayhem and fun - thank you! We cannot do this without you! Want to learn more about Shiba Prom? Visit our website at shibaprom.org, or like us on Facebook for all the updates. We have contests and smaller events throughout the year and will be building up for Shiba Prom 2015! Shibas Helping Shibas: Having Fun Raising Funds! Breaking News: Gift matching up to $1500 from an anonymous donor!
A generous, anonymous donor has offered to match, dollar for dollar, the money raised selling tickets for gift baskets this week. This donor has put $1500 on the table! This money will go into the general fund for Shiba Prom and be split evenly across all the rescues. This means for each $10 ticket for a gift basket sold, the donor will contribute $10 directly to the general fund! Every rescue wins when a ticket is sold! Wow! So much awesome! Such generosity! But hurry and get your tickets now - the challenge is for a limited time and we need to grab all the dollars now! Matching happens: Monday, June 16, 2014 starting at 10am EDT / 7am PDT until Friday, June 20, 2014 at 5pm EDT / 2pm PDT. Returning for her second year as the Pawficial Matchmaker of Shiba Prom, Suki (aka the Suki from the D-Team!) is here to help Shibas, honorary Shibas and Meowies find their pawfect match for Shiba Prom. Send her an email and let her know a little about you, and about your request. She's matching up couples and groups, so be sure to let her know if you are looking for a date, a double date or to join a pawty group!

San Francisco, CA - The Shiba Nation was shocked today to learn that the deep feud between Shibas and Corgis was all part of an elaborate set-up. During pawhaustive investigation of security breaches in the Shiba world, and the rigging of online contests, it was discovered the Corgis had indeed been framed - by a secret organization of squirrels.
The ring master of the Squirrels Againsts Corgis and Shibas (or SACS) was apprehended in a high speed chase last Friday evening after surveillance footage caught him breaking into secret Shiba cheeze stores in Sonoma, CA. In a signed confession. Howard B. Nutter confessed to leading an army of squirrels in "inappropriate" deeds in order to start a war between the Shibas and Corgis. He said, quote: "If they is chasing each other, then them dogs have no time for chasing us squirrels. It was really a matter of survival!" Based on Nutter’s full confession, Corgi Lawyer and a representative for Shibas met to discuss a Cheese Piece Accord to end the feuding. Said Corgi Lawyer “Whew, I'm glad that is over." Shiba representative, "Anonymous" said "Do I really have to give him this cheeze stick? Really?" There is an ongoing investigation into the extent of the squirrel plot as Nutter provides details of his organization in exchange for witness protection from squirrels, Corgis, Shibas and cats.
