NEW items up on the auction site: take a look at all the items and bid for your favorite! And just in case you missed it - we have our very own Theme song this year, performed by the humom of Knoxy and Izzy ShibaDuo. Listen to it here. Don't forget to check on the "How To Shiba Prom" guide as you prep for the big event. Having Fun Raising Funds!
As something new this year, Shiba Prom will be hosting a live auction from May 26 through the end of Prom at Midnight EDT on June 27, 2015. The auctions can be found here:http://www.32auctions.com/ShibaProm2015, or via our website at:http://www.shibaprom.org. Why have we decided to offer a silent auction this year? Well, we have become aware that online raffles are classified as “online gambling” and we do not hold a gambling license. Therefore, we cannot offer gift baskets for raffle this year but we needed to come up with some creative ways to raise funds while having fun this year! We finally hit on the idea of online auctions and contests. All donations in May/June will be included in the pool to be split equally by this year’s participating rescue. This is a big change from previous years where we had some feedback that the baskets were causing “competiveness” amongst the rescues. About the auctions: Each set of items starts at $25 and each increasing bid is $10. The retail value of all baskets ranges from $150 - $350 - although we think they are all PRICELESS! If you do not win an item you are bidding on, please consider donating the value of your bid(s) to Shiba Prom either via the auction site or our website. Items will continue to be added and new auction items featured throughout the month. Make sure to follow us on Facebook (and that you have elected to “Get Notifications” from our Facebook page) and on Twitter for announcements as new auction items are added! About the contests: How else can we have fun while raising funds? We are also providing contests with a donation as an “entry fee” for some of our Shiba Prom 2015 Photo Contests! Each entry will cost $10 and you can enter as many contest as you want, as many times as you want! There will be valuable prize packages for each winner, and voting will be by Prom attendees. Contest entries will begin on June 1, 2015. Stayed tuned for future updates about contests starting new week! Join the auctions today and help save a Shiba! Having Fun Raising Funds!
Shiba Prom is a not-for-profit organization that throws an annual virtual, online, dance party for dogs (cats, rabbits, etc also attend - however, there is a no squirrels allowed policy) to raise funds for Shiba Inu rescue groups and shelters in the US. This is our official fundraising season! Please consider a donation to help the dogs in the shelters and to raise awareness on the impact of puppy mills. What is Shiba Prom? For Many of our Rescue groups, Shiba Prom is their top cash donation annually. Last year we raised over $42,000 for the rescue groups, significantly impacting their operations and allowing many of the rescue groups to take on the cases that most shelters will reject. These rescue groups are a dedicated, unique group of individuals and we are proud to help them. Our 2015 Rescue Groups: Animal Guardian Network (www.animalguardiannetwork.org) Colorado Shiba Inu Rescue (www.coloradoshibainurescue.org) DC Shiba Inu Rescue (www.dcsir.org) Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibarescue.org) NYC Shiba Rescue (www.nycshibarescue.org) Safe Harbor Animal Rescue (www.safeharboranimalrescue.org) Save Me Scout (savemescout.wix.com/savemescoutrescue) Shiba Inu Rescue of Florida (www.shibainurescueflorida.org) Shiba Inu Rescue of Texas (www.sirtx.org) Shiba Rescue of New Jersey (www.shibarescuenj.org) SoCal Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibainurescue.org) Tickets will be on sale starting June 13th. Contest entries will begin June 1st. Silent auctions for fundraising will begin Tuesday, May 26th. Check back here for more information or follow us on Facebook. Shiba Prom is an online, virtual, fundraising event - now in its 4th year! On the day of the big event Shibas, honorary Shibas, meowies that love Shibas and hoomans from all over the world join together to fundraise for Shiba rescues. Last year we raised over $43,000! Let your imagination run wild with that one – what can we do this year? The whole prom takes place online. Some hoomans like to arrange meetup groups to correspond with the event but this is not a requirement.
But - what really happens at the prom? There is music, and we have DJs, a fast moving group chat room (a/k/a "dance floor), contests, prizes and overall creative fun. Leading up to the Prom, we will have a donation drive during the month of June. So how do you get ready? First, make sure you "Like" and follow Shiba Prom on Facebook. Step One: Save the date! This year the pawty is on Saturday, June 27th. Step Two: Secure your date and your pawty pals. Attending stag is fine too – there are so many attendees no one is ever alone! Suggestions for getting a date: post a cute photo and bio to the Shiba Prom page on Facebook and surely, your pup will get lots of responses. Or, post on your own page and tag Shiba Prom in the caption of the post. Step Three: If your hoomans insist, get your fancy dress attire ready. Some Shibas, like our board member Zuko, prefer to go “nekkid” due to their ongoing protest about costumes. Others, like board member Fuchi, enjoy custom couture creations from KatCen (bonus: $5 from each sale is generously donated to Shiba Prom). Step Four: Stay tuned for registration information. Once registration is open, set up your Shiba Prom profile, vote for the Prom Court, and sign up for the Contests! (More info will be coming as we get closer to the date). Step Five: The big day! Sign on to the Shiba Prom website, turn up the volume and jump into the pawty! Get ready to PAWTY! Success!
Now in it's third year, Shiba Prom was held on Saturday, June 28, 2014. The 8 hour online event featured a chat room, DJs, contests, voting for a Prom King and Queen, and surprises all during the day. This year Shiba Prom hit unprecedented new growth with over $42,000 raised in net proceeds! The Shiba and animal rescues who benefit from the Prom each sponsored a gift basket and all groups shared equally in the general funds raised from donations and registration for Prom. The rescues participating this year were: Animal Guardian Network (www.animalguardiannetwork.org) Colorado Shiba Inu Rescue (www.coloradoshibainurescue.org) DC Shiba Inu Rescue (www.dcsir.org) Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibarescue.org) NW Shibas4Life Rescue (www.shibas4life.us) NYC Shiba Rescue (www.nycshibarescue.org) Safe Harbor Animal Rescue (www.safeharboranimalrescue.org) Saving Shibas (www.savingshibasinc.org) Shiba Inu Rescue Association (www.savingshibas.com) Shiba Inu Rescue of Florida (www.shibainurescueflorida.org) Shiba Inu Rescue of Texas (www.sirtx.org) Shiba Rescue of New Jersey (www.shibarescuenj.org) SoCal Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibainurescue.org) TriState Shiba Inu Rescue (www.tristateshiba.org) Shiba Prom had just over 285 registered attendees this year who represented a wide range of friends including canines, felines and humans alike. Started by lovers of the Shiba breed, this year Prom focused on an inclusive nature - with great results! What happens at Prom should stay at Prom, but we do have to say the DJ stylings of David Bowie the dog, DJ “Z-Pack” Zeus Ruper and the Evil Firefox Flygirls were the highlight of the party, along with the occasional surprises they threw out for the party goers. Prom can't happen without the heart of so many volunteers. Our Board of Directors and Shiba Prom committee want to thank all the amazing people who donated prizes. A full list can be found here: Thank you to our sponsors. And, to all those who purchased tickets, registered for Prom, who attended the "pawty" and contributed to the mayhem and fun - thank you! We cannot do this without you! Want to learn more about Shiba Prom? Visit our website at shibaprom.org, or like us on Facebook for all the updates. We have contests and smaller events throughout the year and will be building up for Shiba Prom 2015! Shibas Helping Shibas: Having Fun Raising Funds! Prize / Donor

Voting begins at Shiba Prom, this Saturday, June 28th. Good luck to all the contestants! And here they are, in alphabetical order: Prom Queen: Jewel Kitsune Mochi Sama Shiba Smidgen Sparkles Suki Prom King: Buddy George Kona Latimer Malachi Takeshi IMPORTANT: Each of the court members have been contacted and need to provide a "headshot" for the voting booth before noon EDT / 3pm PST Friday!
