We have seen a lot of cute invitations for Shiba Prom dates lately! Will you be taking a date to Prom, or going solo? Either way, it is sure to be a fun time! The Pawty site will have forums for Couples AND for Single Shibas too (plus "Honorary Shibas" and a place for our meowie friends), so everyone is included and welcome. Some shibas have gotten very creative with their invitations, using photo editors and even making a video! Check our Shiba Prom's Mali Ki asking his girl, Elee to the 2013 Prom: And here is Shiba Prom's Zenji, with his invitation for Jewel Inu, NW Shibas4Life Spokedog. Even though Zenji and Jewel have been in a long distance "relationship" for almost a year, he still felt it was proper to woo her with flowers and bubbly! Zenji's humom used this photo editor to make his invite on her MAC (it is free): www.ribbet.com. (note: she's told the Windows version is "buggy" but the MAC version works great!) MSIR Alum Luda asks Sakura DivaDog to Prom 2013 The lovely Sakura DivaDog attend last year's Prom with Max of the ShibaTrio, but he had other plans this year (see below). However, MSIR Alum and Spokedog Luda had plans for Sakura, and he asked her to 2013 Prom with his noms! Max supports Marriage Equality Max decided to do things differently this year. He supports Marriage Equality for ev-furry-one, so he wanted to take another male shiba to Prom 2013 as his date. He got all dressed up in his Pride collar made by Downdog Duds and decided to make a public invite. He is very happy that Koji, of Koji and Gyp Gyp on Facebook, agreed to be his date! All of the mothers are proud of their boys! So, while you decide if you are taking a date, or going solo, the Shiba Prom Committee is hard at work finalizing all of the details for Prom 2013! Stay tuned for more soon, and start practicing your dance moves!

A little history...In Spring 2012, a group of Shiba Inu humoms decided to organize an online fundraising event to help Shiba Inu and Shiba-Inu mix rescues. Rescue volunteers in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area had come together to try to find a lost shiba, Nami, who had slipped her collar in Brooklyn. After three weeks, Nami was found, but the desire to help the rescues continued and grew stronger. In June 2012 the hugely successful, international online fundraising event, Shiba Prom, was held to benefit five shiba and shiba-mix rescue organizations. Following the first virtual fundraiser, different rescues began contacting Shiba Prom’s co-founders and requesting their help with online fundraising projects. As each new fundraising project raised hundreds, and in several cases, thousands of dollars for these rescues, the founders of Shiba Prom realized that the time had come to incorporate as a non-for-profit. And now...Recently, Shiba Prom became a licensed non-for-profit corporation with the state of Illinois. This legal classification is an important step to becoming a 501(c)3 charitable organization, which is in the works. Our pawficial name is Shiba Prom NFP.
